Obituary: Edith S. Hoffine

Services for Edith Snow Hoffine, 90, Bonner Springs, were Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at Alden-Harrington Funeral home in Bonner Springs. Burial was in Lenape Cemetery near Bonner Springs.

Mrs. Hoffine died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at her home. She was born Dec. 10, 1914, in Carroll County, Ark., and moved to the Frankfort, Kan., area in 1916 in a covered wagon. She later moved to Bonner Springs, where she graduated in 1933 from high school. She worked as a clerk for the Iris Grocery Store and Watson's Drug Store, and later retired from Russell Stovers Candies. She was a member of the Loring Sunshine Club, the Bonner Springs Senior Citizens, Delaware Dancers and the Kountry Kickers square dance clubs.

She married Emmett Hoffine on Aug. 13, 1936, in Topeka. He died in 1991.

Survivors include a son, James Hoffine, Bonner Springs; three daughters, Patricia Wolfe, Linwood, Muriel Selanders, Kansas City, Kan., and Kathleen Saving, Lawrence; two brothers, Carl Stepp, Smith Center, and Don Stepp, Casper, Wyo.,; a sister, Marjorie Hubbs, Collinsville, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
