McLouth teams victorious against Seabury Academy

February 9, 2005

A visit from Lawrence's Seabury Academy gave McLouth teams something they've been searching for all season -- a victory.

Playing Thursday at McLouth, the Bulldog girls carried an 0-12 record into the game.

They walked out of their home gym with their first victory. Erica Meyer and Leigh Anna Thompson combined for 23 points as McLouth knocked off Seabury, 33-31. The Bulldogs appeared to be headed for unlucky defeat No. 13 entering the fourth quarter. Seabury shut out MHS in the second quarter and was leading, 24-15, heading into the final stanza.

But The Bulldogs outscored Seabury, 18-7, in the fourth quarter and held on for the victory.

The girls win put added pressure on the MHS boys in the second game, but the Bulldogs were up to the challenge.

A strong fourth quarter also was the key for the boys team. Trailing by two heading into the final quarter, McLouth outscored Seabury, 17-10. Trevor Keling's game-high 13 paced the Bulldogs in a 40-32 victory. The win also improved the McLouth boys record to 1-12.

Kevin Stewart also was in double-figures with 10 for the Bulldogs.

The McLouth teams were back in action Tuesday at Troy and will be at home Friday when they play Doniphan West. Friday also marks King and Queen of Courts at McLouth.
