Lions prolong Chieftain pain

By Shawn Linenberger - | Jan 26, 2005

Lansing and Tonganoxie played a classic game Saturday in the Tonganoxie Invitational as the Lansing boys escaped with a 49-46 overtime win.

Playing in a make-up game Tuesday, the teams again faced each other in Tonganoxie.

Although the game didn’t need overtime, the score was almost identical.

Lansing won, 48-46, this time on LHS junior Chris Wagner’s running jumper with two seconds left. The win pushed Lansing’s record to 5-6. Tonganoxie, meanwhile, dropped to 3-9 and 0-5 in the Kaw Valley League.

LHS only went to the line five times. The team connected on three of those attempts.

Tonganoxie went 6-of-9 from the line. Kirk Rodell accounted for five of those free throws. He went 5-for-6 from the line.
