Perry-Lecompton upsets Atchison County for McLouth Invitational title
Perry-Lecompton entered the McLouth Invitational with a less than stellar record of 1-5.
The season suddenly became more interesting for the Kaws after Saturday's championship game.
Perry-Lecompton dropped Atchison County, 62-49, in the finals. PLHS captured the tournament title and, in the process, upped its record to a more respectable 4-5. Atchison County fell to 6-4.
PLHS senior Willie Treaster scored a game-high 21 points in the win. He also was named tournament MVP.
In the third-place game, Jefferson County North outlasted Maranatha, 66-63, while Bishop Ward dropped Oskaloosa, 55-42, in the fifth-place game.
MHS, still searching for its first win of the season, fell to Valley Falls, 57-36, in the seventh-place game.
The Bulldogs now are 0-9 on the season. MHS next will be in action Feb. 1 at Wathena.
