Obituary: Judith A. Oakson

Services for former Tonganoxie resident Judith Ann “Judy” Oakson, 66, Ozawkie, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2005, at Tonganoxie United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie.

Mrs. Oakson died Monday, July 25, 2005, at a Topeka Hospital. She was born Nov. 28, 1938, in Kansas City, Kan., daughter of Raymond and Darline Klamm Sutton.

She had lived in Ozawkie for 17 years, moving there from Tonganoxie.

Mrs. Oakson was a bookkeeper at Sutton-Kolman Ford dealership in Tonganoxie for many years. She retired after 10 years as office manager for the Lake Ridge Estates in Ozawkie, where she served as a board member of the homeowners association.

She was a member of the Tonganoxie United Methodist Church, the Sertoma Club of Tonganoxie and of the Day Lilly Gardening Club in Topeka.

She had attended Kansas University in Lawrence for two years.

She married Dale Ray Oakson on July 12, 1968, in Tonganoxie. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her mother, Darline “Dean” Sutton, Tonganoxie; two sons, Mike Brown, Conroe, Texas, and Chris Brown, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; a stepson, Douglas Oakson, Linwood; two stepdaughters, Debbie Oakson Sheals, Columbia, Mo., and Dianna Freeman, Gladstone, Mo.; a sister, Barbara Kolman, Tonganoxie; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, July 27, 2005, at Barnett Funeral home, 820 Liberty, Oskaloosa.
