Obituary: William Bryan “Hoot” DePriest
Services for William Bryan "Hoot" DePriest, 79, McLouth, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will follow at McLouth Cemetery, McLouth.
Mr DePriest died Friday, June 3, 2005, in Topeka. He was born July 21, 1925, in Lobelsville, Tenn., the son of William Jess and Betty Bates DePriest.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked construction and as a carpenter with local union 168. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite of K.E.K. and the American Legion.
He married Ann Margaret Wright.
Survivors include three sons, James M. DePriest and Dwayne J. DePriest, both of McLouth, William "Bryan" DePriest Jr., Leavenworth; a daughter, Deanna DePriest-Gill, McLouth; six brothers, Lowell, Clarence, Lee, Ed, Ray and Clifford, all of Tennessee and Mary, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home.
