Obituary: Margaret V. Sterner

Graveside services for Margaret V. Sterner, 81, Oskaloosa, were Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Kan.

Mrs. Sterner, a former Basehor and Ozawkie resident, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Hickory Point Nursing Home, Oskaloosa. She was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Homer L. and Hattie (Crosthwait) Dyer.

She worked as a welder during World War II and was co-owner of Sterner Meat Co., Kansas City, Kan. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and raised Yorkies and boxers. Mrs. Sterner also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kansas City, Kan., and a member of the Basehor Rustlers 4-H club.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Breedlove, Basehor; a stepdaughter, Janice Bateman, Kansas City, Mo.; a stepson, Jimmie Sterner, Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Alfred Dyer, Tonganoxie; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
