Tonganoxie will play late game Thursday against Royal Valley at state tournament

By Shawn Linenberger - | Mar 5, 2005

The Tonganoxie girls basketball team will play at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at Salina’s Bicenttenial Center in the Class 4A state tournament.

The Chieftains, 21-2, will play Royal Valley, which is 17-6 on the season. Royal Valley, which is just north of Topeka in Hoyt, defeated Jeff West in its susbstate title game. A Jeff West win probably would have given JWHS a rematch with THS. Tonganoxie defeated Jeff West in this year’s Tonganoxie Invitational.

In other quarterfinal action, No. 1 Wichita Collegiate (22-1) will face No. 8 Clearwater (11-12) at 3 p.m., No. 4 Colby (20-3) will meet No. 5 Labette (17-5) at 4:45 p.m. and No. 2 Iola (21-2) will battle No. 7 Buhler (14-9) at 6:30 p.m.
