Wrestlers have end-of-season bash

March 30, 2005

Scooter received a skateboard and Coach Goebel was presented with some old shoes at the Tonganoxie High wrestling banquet Monday at the Kemp residence south of Tonganoxie.

Tonganoxie High seniors Ross Starcher, Hunter Samuels and Garrett Palmer gave Scooter, also known as Tonganoxie assistant wrestling coach Scott Underwood, the skateboard. The seniors said he deserved the present because he wears "skater shoes" and, of course, because his nickname is Scooter.

The seniors then gave THS coach Jeremy Goebel pairs of their old wrestling shoes. When Goebel was called up in the Army Reserves to North Carolina more than two years ago, he gave each of his wrestlers a piece of his old equipment so they can be reminded of him. The seniors returned the favor on Monday.

During the banquet, two highlight videos were viewed and Goebel handed out letters for letter jackets and postseason awards.
