Nearly 120 Tonganoxie students set to graduate Saturday night
Basehor, McLouth scheudle graduation ceremonies
Nearly 120 Tonganoxie High School seniors will celebrate commencement exercises at 7 p.m. Saturday at Beatty Field.
Class president Katie Pestock will give the welcome address, and valedictorian Hunter Samuels also will address his fellow seniors and the audience.
THS principal Tatia Shelton and assistant principal Brent Smith will present awards and lead the presentation of scholarships. If rain is in the forecast Saturday evening, the ceremony will be moved to the THS gymnasium.
Tonganoxie Junior High also will have a ceremony honoring its students with eighth-grade recognition night. It begins at 7 p.m. today.
Basehor-Linwood High School, meanwhile, will be the first area high school to bid farewell to its seniors.
Commencement exercises at BLHS will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the high school gymnasium in Basehor. This year's valedictorian will present a speech during the graduation ceremony. The class of 2005 at BLHS consists of 136 students.
At McLouth, the high school will have its graduation ceremony at 11 a.m. May 21 at the MHS sports complex. The baccalaureate ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the McLouth Church of the Nazarene, 901 E. Lake.
During graduation, co-valedictorians and other senior class members will speak. MHS will be graduating 44 seniors this year.
McLouth Middle School's eighth-grade promotion will take place at 7 p.m. May 24 in the Gold Gymnasium.
