Obituary: Mary E. “Betty” LaMar

Services for Mary E. "Betty" LaMar, 84, McLouth, were Sunday at McLouth First Baptist Church.

Burial was in McLouth Cemetery.

Mrs. LaMar died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at Medical Lodge in Atchison. She was born June 18, 1922, at LaCygne, the daughter of Harry Edward and Bertha Ruth Fleahardy Smith.

She had lived in McLouth since 1955.

Mrs. LaMar was a homemaker. She was a member of McLouth First Baptist Church and attended the Nortonville Christian Church.

She married Arthur LeRoy LaMar on Sept. 22, 1939. He died on May 26, 1984.

Survivors include two daughters, Feona Bolinger, McLouth, and Betty Ann Shade, Atchison; a brother, Edgar "Bud" Smith, LaCygne; four sisters, Genevieve Saunders, Moro, Ore., Marguerite Tribby, Portland, Ore., Mildred Fannan, Harrisonville, Mo., and Margaret Ann Goddard, Harrisonville, Mo.; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Connie Hedgepath, died in 2003.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Jefferson County Humane Society or to the church, which may be sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa 66066.
