Obituary: Frank R. Waters Jr.
Services for Frank R. Waters Jr., 81, Baldwin, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Baldwin. Burial will follow in Easton Cemetery.
Mr. Waters died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab. He was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Leavenworth, the son of Frank R. and Gertrude A. (Mann) Waters Sr.
He attended Jarbalo and High Prairie schools in Leavenworth County.
He worked most of his life as a self-employed carpenter, who built and remodeled homes in Leavenworth County.
He enjoyed raising Angus cattle, gardening and building furniture for family and friends. He also enjoyed mission work during which he would help build and remodel homes.
He married Virginia Arlene Ready on May 5, 1946, in Basehor. She died Jan. 23, 1988.
He married Ruby Elizabeth Hamline on Nov. 26, 1993, in Leavenworth. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Waters, Lawrence; two sons, Larry Waters, Baldwin, and Arden Waters, Tonganoxie; two sisters, Mary Nida Lohman, Pleasant Valley, Wash., and Leah Kathryn Turner, Overbrook; a brother, Vernon Waters, Leavenworth; three stepchildren, Gary Hamline, Cole Camp, Mo., Philip Hamline, South Korea, and Ruby Elaine Hamline, Independence, Mo.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Waters was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lawrence Waters, and a stepson, Lary Hamline.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 30, 2006, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Lighthouse Baptist Church or Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin 66067.
