Hamm eliminated in state wrestling tournament

Tonganoxie freshman Kevin Hamm was eliminated after two matches at the Class 4A state tournament Friday in Salina.

Labette County’s Taylor Dwyer pinned Hamm midway through the second period in his first match. The THS freshman then fell to Clearwater’s Ethan Bates by pin with 37 seconds left in the second period in the consolation bracket.

On Saturday, Andale had a comfortable lead in the 4A team standings with 104.
Colby was second with 64.5, while Kaw Valley League champion Santa Fe Trail was third with 60.5.

In 5A, Lansing held first place after Friday, but Valley Center led Saturday with 130. Lansing was fifth with 105.5.
