Letters to the editor: Library board needs member; Streets should be free of parked cars for parade

By Staff | Mar 23, 2006

TO THE EDITOR:

Your library needs you. There is a vacancy on the Tonganoxie Library Board, the body that helps ensure the library provides quality service to its patrons.

The library is a vital member of the community, and it is one of the best libraries in the area. It provides a wide range of services for patrons of every age and has undergone many improvements in recent years.

Library Board members make sure that library policies concur with local, state and federal laws. They do strategic planning and hire and support the library director. They help with budgeting and educating the community about the library.

The board meets monthly. By Kansas law, board members must reside in the city limits of Tonganoxie.

Library Board meetings are open to the public and are usually scheduled for the first Wednesday of every month. Meetings run from one to two hours and start at 6:30 pm.

Please pick up an application at City Hall today and take part in the future development of your library. We’d love to have you join us!

Janet Hofmeister,
president, Tonganoxie Library Board.

TO THE EDITOR:

Wake up Tonganoxie!!!

When the city hosts a parade as it did Saturday for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, it does not allow parking on Fourth Street the morning of the parade.

Small children could not see the floats from the side walk because of vans, pickups and automobiles parked on both sides of the parade route.

Wake up Tonganoxie.

Don Huebner,
Tonganoxie.
