McLouth Happenings

Kylie Campbell is McLouth High School’s Student of the Month for October. Kylie, a senior, is the daughter of Mitch and Shawnda Campbell. She plans to attend college and is undecided for a major, but plans to minor in athletic training. This award is sponsored by the McLouth Kiwanis, honoring students who exhibit outstanding citizenship and scholarship.

McLouth Elementary School has a limited supply of 2005-2006 yearbooks remaining. Please stop by the Elementary office soon if you’d like to purchase one. Cost is $12.

For several years, the McLouth Elementary yearbook for has been edited by Dixie Jones. Recently, she has taken on the Middle School yearbook, as well. This is a volunteer position. Dixie tries to capture every moment for these memory books, but she cannot attend all events. She would appreciate your submission of digital photos of any event that you may attend for these two schools. Please e-mail photos or questions to jonesd@mclouth.org. Here’s the November schedule for Parents As Teachers playgroups at the McLouth Community Center and Library: “Big Red Barn,” 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Nov. 6, 13 and 27; and 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Nov. 21. Parents As Teachers is a fun, free, early learning program for parents of children prenatal through 3 years, sponsored by McLouth school district and the state education department. Don’t forget that Election Day is next Tuesday, Nov. 7. Exercise your right to vote.

Stanwood Friends Church is sponsoring a chili supper and bake sale from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. next Wednesday, Nov. 8 at McLouth Community Center. Proceeds will benefit youth activities and mission trips.

At 8:30 a.m. Nov. 10, the annual Veterans Day assembly will be held in the school’s Gold Gym. The public is welcome, and a special invitation to all veterans is extended. The program will feature the McLouth High School band and choir, as well as the Shawnee Heights Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.
