The Springdale community wants to extend its sympathy to the Ina Uhlrich family in the loss of their mother Ina, who passed away Tuesday, July 17, at the Johnson County Nursing Center in Olathe.

Her funeral was Saturday, July 21, in St. Joseph of the Valley Church in Easton. Internment was at St. Thomas Cemetery in Springdale. Barnett-Larkin Funeral Home was in charge of services. Ina was 97 years of age.

L.J. and Gertrude Chrisman traveled Monday, July 23, to Emporia to take their granddaughter Whitney Lafferty to lunch. They went to supper that evening with friends Jim and Dolores South in Ottawa. On Wednesday, July 25, they visited friends, Helen and Bill Wallace, in Topeka.

Orie and Jan Nelson attended the monthly meeting and potluck dinner of Henry Leavenworth Car Club on Friday, July 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, hosted by Lawrence and Roberta Kern. Orie Nelson attended his Monday Coffee Club on July 16 at Marn Stephens in Leavenworth. Jan attended Leavenworth County Republican Women's lunch and meeting on July 16 at the High Noon Saloon. Following the meeting, Jan met with the book club reviewing "The ACLU vs. America." The Nelsons celebrated America's birthday on July 4 at the home of Phyllis and Jack Garnhart in Leavenworth, Also attending were Dorsey and Scotty Love of Leavenworth. Many county residents were celebrating at home with beautiful fireworks.

Ray and Jeanette Cole were celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary on Sunday, July 22, at a bed and breakfast in Valley Falls. Luke Cole was a guest at Bill Schwinn's home and Emily Cole at John Gray's home.

Danny and Linda Schwinn left on Monday, July 23, for a little "R&R." They plan to see Linda's sister, Carol Knapp, and family in Nebraska before returning home.

Jeff and Jenna Gillaspie and Isabella, Peggy and Ed Gillaspie and Evelyn Schwinn enjoyed lunch on Sunday, July 22, at the China Buffet in Leavenworth.

Plans are being made for the all Schwinn family reunion to be Sept. 30 at the Community Building in Lansing. The pot luck dinner starts at 1 p.m., program to follow.

A large crowd of family and friends attended the 55th anniversary celebration and dinner for Willow and Charlotte Edmonds on Saturday, July 21, at the Pleasant Ridge Middle School. Their daughters, Debbie and Arlene Tina and Donna were the hostesses. The Edmondses were dairy farmers in the Springdale area a long time.

Orie And Jan Nelson, Cora and John Moses, and Wayne and Anabel Knapp attended the annual Farm Bureau supper July 19, at the Lansing Community Center. They had a real nice program. The meal was served by the Friendship Valley 4-H Club. A very good job was done by all the 4-H'ers serving.
