Weathering weather

By Staff | Dec 12, 2007

The past week hasn’t exactly been “chamber of commerce” weather for northeastern Kansas. Snow, ice, cold and wind have combined to produce some fairly miserable circumstances for us.

But it’s not all bad. While temperatures have been below the freezing mark, it’s not as if the cold is so harsh that going outside becomes a test of human endurance.

The snow of late last week and the freezing drizzle of the past weekend seem to be a practice run for what forecasters have in store for us in the middle of this week.

With some common sense and patience, we’ll endure.

The wind may blow, the ice may slicken our walkways and roads and, yes, we will be inconvenienced. It’s just Mother Nature’s way of reminding us she’s in charge of the weather.

The best we can do is prepare for it, do what we can to stay safe in it and try to find a way to enjoy it until we get a break.

After all, this is Kansas and if you don’t like the weather, wait a few days and it’ll change.
