THS to be featured twice on Channel 6

Sunflower Channel 6 will feature Tonganoxie twice this basketball season on its High School Games of the Week.

The games of the week can be seen on replay on Sunflower Broadband Channel 6 at 10:30 p.m. Friday or 11 a.m. Saturday.

If the game is played on a Tuesday or Thursday, it can be seen that night at 10:30 p.m.

Here’s the schedule for this season’s games of the week:

¢ Thursday, Dec. 20: Lawrence High girls vs. Lawrence Free State

¢ Friday, Jan. 4: Eudora High boys vs. Baldwin

¢ Friday, Jan. 11: Lawrence High boys vs. Olathe South

¢ Friday, Jan. 25: Tonganoxie High girls vs. Basehor-Linwood

¢ Friday, Feb. 1: Free State High boys vs. Shawnee Mission South

¢ Friday, Feb. 8: Eudora High girls vs. Gardner

¢ Tuesday, Feb. 12: Piper boys vs. Tonganoxie

¢ Friday, Feb. 22: Free State High boys vs. Lawrence High

Turley donates to fund

Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Kyle Turley played host to a press conference at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Overland Park to recognize some of his teammates who will help him aid retired NFL players.

Turley organized the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, which donates money to former NFL players in need. Turley and others will donate portions of their pay checks to the fund after Sunday’s game.

Those who were on hand for Turley’s press conference included former Kansas City players Len Dawson, Fred Arbanas, Ed Podalak, Tim Grunhard, Larry Marshall, Walt Corey, Ed Budde, JC Pearson, Danon Hughes, Tony Reed, Vince Costello and Neil Smith.

Lynn Dickey, a former Green Bay Packers quarterback and Paola native, was also on hand, along with Gridiron Greats founder Jerry Kramer.
