Melvin Dean Cozad

Services for Melvin Dean Cozad, 81, Tonganoxie, formerly of Shawnee, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with burial at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Cozad died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.

He was born in Blanchard, Iowa, and was a diesel mechanic for Caterpillar for 41 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

His wife, Coleda (Gerri) Cozad, survives of the home. The were married on March 15, 1947.

Other survivors include two sons, Ryland D., Shawnee, and Steven W. Cozad, Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Rose Marie Tolby, Gravois Mills, Mo.; a brother, Gerald W. Cozad, of Picayune, Miss.; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee.
