Teams start postseason Monday

It will be do-or-die next week for Tonganoxie and McLouth high school teams.

On Monday, the THS golf team will head to Western Hills Golf Course, 8533 SW 21st St. in Topeka for its Class 4A regional. McLouth’s Martin Lucas will compete in a Class 3A regional at Spring Creek Golf Course in Seneca. Both golf regionals will start at 9 a.m.

In softball action, No. 5 Tonganoxie (8-5) will take on Eudora (10-4) at 4:45 p.m. Monday at Basehor Field of Dreams in the Basehor 4A regional.

McLouth, at 16-0, will be the top seed in a 3A regional it will be the host to Monday. The Bulldogs drew a bye in the quarterfinals. The Bulldogs will play the winner of No. 4 Oskaloosa (6-6) and No. 5 Wathena/Troy (3-7) at 3 p.m. Tueasday in the quarterfinals. A win in that game would put Mclouth in the regional finals at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Bulldogs’ home field.

Tonganoxie opens regionals at 7 p.m. Monday at 3&2 Field, 83rd and Kansas Highway 7. No. 6 THS (7-8) will play Lenexa-St. James Academy (9-3) in the regional quarterfinals.

MHS, meanwhile, is the No. 2 seed at the Pleasant Ridge 3A regional. McLouth is 6-4 and earned a bye in the quarterfinals. The Bulldogs will play at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday against No. 3 Pleasant Ridge (8-6) or No. 6 Atchison County (1-7).

Tonganoxie and McLouth track teams won’t compete at regionals until Friday. Tonganoxie will compete at 3 p.m. at Hoyt, home of Royal Valley High School. McLouth will head to Sabetha for its 3A regional. The meet will begin at 3:30 p.m.
