The Jaunty Jarbalonians chapter of the Red Hat Society met at the Harvest House in McLouth for lunch May 19. Those enjoying the outing were Connie Barnett, Jane Turner, Lynn Paul, Betty Clark and Thamar Barnett.

Jarrod and Margaret Sanford, Ottawa, announce the birth of their son, Leyton Harrison Sanford, born May 18, 2007, in Lawrence. He was 19 1/2 inches long and weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces. He has a big sister, 9-year-old Allison. Maternal grandparents are Lloyd and Margaret Smelser, McLouth. Paternal grandparents are Steve and Linda Hird, Moran.

You love to quilt but you don’t have room in your home to set up those frames. You really don’t need frames. In fact, I’ve never used them. Oh true, I’ve tried; my fingers all become thumbs, it seems. I can get my needle in and out, up and down much easier without a frame.

Services for Robert “Bob” Dean Mangelsdorf, 54, Tonganoxie, were Saturday, May 26, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kan. Interment was at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Tonganoxie city officials were in for a rude awakening last week when a moratorium on development on Leavenworth County Road 1 that was only supposed to go a half-mile north of Honey Creek ended up going all of the way to the southern Tonganoxie city limits on 14th Street.
