Obituary: Michael James Stevens

Services for Michael James Stevens, 46, rural McLouth, were Monday, Oct. 1, at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial was at Buster Cemetery, Perry.

Mr. Stevens died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2007, at his home.

He was born Jan. 3, 1961, in Lawrence, the son of Dennis M. and Ethel M. Hay Stevens. He was a lifelong resident of the McLouth and Oskaloosa areas.

Mr. Stevens was an avid antique machinery collector and trader. He was an enthusiast and competitor in tractor- and garden tractor-pulling competitions and was a member of the Meriden Antique Engine and Thresher’s Association and was a volunteer worker at the Meriden Threshing Grounds in Meriden for many years.

He was a 1980 graduate of McLouth High School and attended Northeast Technical School in Atchison for auto mechanics.

Survivors include his parents, Dennis M. and Ethel M. Stevens, McLouth; a brother, Rodney D., McLouth; and two sisters, Denise Ann Stevens, Lecompton, and Penny Sue Illig, Perry.
