KVL Football Report: Week Six

By Chris Wristen - | Oct 6, 2007

After six weeks of drama, the Kaw Valley League standings finally have a bit of clarity. Lansing wrapped up at least a share of the league crown and knocked Mill Valley out of contention Friday night when LHS romped to a 42-6 victory. Meanwhile, Bonner Springs joined Lansing at 5-1 in the league when it rolled to a 57-12 victory over winless Immaculata.

Lansing has a head-to-head advantage over Bonner Springs, but the standings remain dicey because Perry-Lecompton – the only team to beat Lansing this year – also is 5-1 in the league. The Kaws also have one league game remaining when they travel to Tonganoxie on Friday for a league/district matchup.

Although out of the hunt for a league championship, Basehor-Linwood continues to play better than its 2-4 record indicates. A week after taking Lansing to the wire, the Bobcats picked up their second win by toppling Tonganoxie, 26-14. Basehor’s other win this season is against Perry-Lecompton.

All league teams begin district play this week.
