THS holding Salina sendoff

Tonganoxie High School will be the starting point of the THS volleyball sendoff to the Kansas Class 4A state tournament in Salina.

THS players and coaches will board the bus shortly after 8 a.m. The path around town will include stops at Tonganoxie Elementary School, downtown Fourth Street and Tonganoxie Middle School.

For a few minutes at each stop, the team will greet fans. The Chieftains will leave for Salina shortly after the sendoff, around 9 a.m.

The state tournament will be held at the Salina Bicentennial Center, 800 The Midway, in Salina. Tonganoxie will play in its first match at 3:30 p.m. Friday against St. James Academy (Lenexa).

Tonganoxie, the No. 8 seed, will enter the match at 28-11. St. James, the No. 1 seed, will enter the tournament undefeated at 41-0.

THS will play in three matches Friday in pool play. Tonganoxie will face Colby at 6:30 p.m. and Clearwater at 8:30 p.m.

It will represent Tonganoxie’s first trip to the state tournament since 1993, when it placed fourth.
