McLouth Happenings

The Jefferson County Historical Society, located in Oskaloosa, will play host to a Vintage Quilt Show in the Edmonds Chapel, and an Antique Car Display on the grounds with the Lawrence Antique Car Club of America, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The historical society will be featuring some signature or friendship quilts from 1889 from the Oskaloosa Presbyterian church members; Woodstock Friendship Quilt from the Woodstock School from the 1930s; and the Wellman Church friendship quilt, as many others being brought in for the display. McLouth High School Band will march in the Kansas University Band Day Parade in downtown Lawrence, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and participate in the halftime show of the KU football game that evening. KU will play Southeastern Louisiana at 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.

An Appreciation Day in honor of Charley Bolinger, McLouth, will be held Sunday at Countryside Baptist Church (10328 Wellman Road, between McLouth and Oskaloosa).

Charley, the son of a Baptist preacher, began playing piano when he was 10 years old. God blessed him with this talent and he has used his gift to serve the Lord. Throughout his lifetime, he has played piano at eight churches; the past 26 years have been at Countryside Baptist Church.

Everyone is invited. If you’ve never heard him play,his is a wonderful opportunity. Charley is an inspiration to many!

Sunday School is at 10 a.m. and Worship Hour at 11 a.m. A fellowship dinner will follow.

Community “Scrapbooking” Fellowship will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the basement of McLouth First Baptist Church. Beginners and seasoned scrapbookers are welcome. Bring your photos and share your ideas. Questions? Call Sheryl Stemmons: (785) 840-4239.

McLouth Parent Teachers Organization will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 in the high school home economics room. Babysitting is provided.
