Obituary: Helen Graves
Services for Helen Graves, 89, of De Soto, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kan. Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Graves, a longtime Kansas City, Kan.-area resident, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, in the Hillside Village of De Soto.
She was born Nov. 1, 1917, in Galveston, Texas, the daughter of A.P. and Mamie (Norvelle) Pratas. She moved to the Kansas City area more than 60 years ago. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Bethel, Kansas City, Kan. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and crossword puzzles and was an avid bingo player at Hillside Village of De Soto.
In 2005, her husband of 62 years, Frank Graves, died.
Survivors include a son, William Graves, Kansas City, Kan.; four daughters, Frances Gill, Santa Barbara, Calif., Paula Wood, Blue Springs, Mo., and Sharon Coleman and Suzanne Snapp, both of Tonganoxie; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
