Pat and Jeanne Murry of Olathe took Jean Murry to Tonganoxie for dinner Saturday evening, Sept. 1. After they got back, Jean saw five hot air balloons.

Kevin and Sandy Butler had a cookout for relatives Sunday, Sept. 2. David and Jane Turner were guests.

My granddaughter, Rhiannon Mooberry, Jake Roscoe and family have moved to Jarbalo. They live where Fosters lived for a long time.

Saturday, Sept. 2, Paul and Lynn Heskett, Kody, Michelle and Isaac of Moran visited with relatives at the house of Thamar Barnett. Those making it by were Steve and Gail Fitzwater and Josh, David and Jane Turner. Connie Barnett, Kathy Stinac, Rhiannon Mooberry, Madison Smith, Lindsey Roscoe, Ronnie Mooberry, Julia Carter and Shianne. Mid-afternoon the Heskett's went to Tonganoxie for a family get-together for Gene Heskett's birthday celebration.

Jarbalo United Methodist women met Wednesday, Sept. 12. President Marilyn Oxley opened the meeting and Peachez Joles gave a prayer. Seven members and the pastor were there.

Plans were made for the smorgasbord that will be Friday, Oct. 5, with serving starting at 5 p.m. Admission is by donation. The next UMW meeting will be Oct. 3 so tables and chairs can be set up for the smorgasbord.

The current officers were re-elected to serve for 2008.

The officers are; president, Marilyn Oxley; vice president, Thamar Barnett; secretary, Rosie Oelschlaeger; and treasurer, Frances Jeannin.

Gladys Steffen had the lesson, which was about Richard Warren, author of "Purpose Driven Life." An article, "How Old is Grandma," was also read. Gladys also provided refreshments to the group.

A good time was had by all who attended the community BBQ Saturday evening, Sept. 8, at Jarbalo United Methodist Church. The group Glory Generation presented a program of songs. The pie auction went well, also.

I met a new member of our community one evening as he was walking his dog. Richie Moore owns the Opliger house and store building.

Connie and Eric Barnett were dinner guests of David and Jane Turner Sunday evening. Kevin and Sandy Butler were their dinner guests Tuesday evening.
