KVL Football Report: Week Four

September 24, 2007

Mill Valley took command of the Kaw Valley League standings Friday night when sophomore quarterback Luke Lawyer completed eight of 11 passes for 237 yards in a 35-0 shellacking of Tonganoxie.

Senior wide receiver Miles Malec caught six of Lawyer's passes for 201 yards, and his steady hands helped the Jaguars remain the league's lone unbeaten team with a 4-0 record.

The league's other previously unbeaten team, Bonner Springs, was shocked by Lansing in overtime Friday night, 27-24, on a touchdown rumble by senior fullback Brad Terron. That forces a three-way tie for second in the league between Lansing, Bonner and Perry-Lecompton at 3-1.

The league spotlight will be on the Mill Valley-Bonner Springs showdown Friday night as the Braves try to become the first team to trip the Jaguars. Then Mill Valley and Lansing square off on Friday, Oct. 5.
