Tonganoxie City Fire Department
¢ Firefighters responded with Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Service at 12:20 a.m. and 6:49 p.m. March 24, 8:39 a.m. March 25, 8:20 a.m. Saturday and 3:13 p.m. Sunday.
¢ At 7:15 p.m. March 24, firefighters responded to a cat in a tree in the 1100 block of Ridge Circle.
¢ At 7:37 p.m. Thursday, firefighters responded with EMS and Tonganoxie Township Fire Department for an injury ATV/motorcycle accident.
Tonganoxie Police Department
¢ A 30-year-old Tonganoxie woman reported to the Tonganoxie Police Department that she was being harassed by telephone. The harassment began sometime between 12:40 p.m. March 14 and continued into March 25. The suspected harasser repeatedly called the woman and also sent her several unwanted text messages.
¢ At 4:20 a.m. March 22, a 26-year-old Lansing man was stopped for suspicious activity in the 200 block of Second Street. Officers found the man to be driving under the influence, driving with an open container and in possession of drugs. The man as arrested and taken to the Leavenworth County Jail.
¢ Around 3 a.m. March 29, an 18-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man was arrested for DUI at the 400 block of U.S. Highway 24-40 and taken to the Leavenworth County Jail. Officers stopped the man for speeding.
¢ A 25-year-old Shawnee man was stopped for speeding around 2 a.m. March 31 at the 200 block of Fourth Street. The man was found to be diving under the influence and transported to the Leavenworth County Jail.
Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office
¢ At 7:20 p.m., March 22, sheriff's deputies made a routine stop for 19-year-old De Soto man who failed to stop at a stop sign around County Road 3 and Golden Road. Officers discovered the man was driving while suspended and driving without insurance. The man was arrested and taken to the Leavenworth County Jail.
¢ Around 10 p.m. March 22, a 41-year-old Bonner Springs woman was stopped for a routine traffic stop at Kansas Highway 32 and County Road 2. The woman was found to be intoxicated and driving with an open container. She was transported to the Leavenworth County Jail.
¢ A 48-year-old Lenexa man reported that sometime between 5:45 p.m. March 22 and 10:15 March 23 an unknown number of suspects broke into his barn on the 16800 block of Metro Avenue. Officers observed that two garage doors had been run into by a vehicle. The suspects then stole several items including a brush mower. There are no suspects at this time.
¢ Sometime before noon on March 25, an unknown number of suspects cut a chain and removed two Polaris ATVs from a residence in the 20300 block of State Avenue. The ATVs valued at $8,850 belonged to Heritage Tractor Inc. in Baldwin City.
¢ Around 12 p.m. March 25, Leavenworth County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 16500 block of 182nd Street. When they arrived they spoke with a 19-year-old Tonganoxie man who said he and his two 18-year-old friends were followed home by three white males from the Wal-Mart in Bonner Springs. The Tonganoxie man said that the suspects tried to start a fight with them at the store. They were followed home. Somewhere around 182nd Street and Evans Road, the Tonganoxie man said the suspects car bumped the rear of his car and then the suspect threw a beer bottle at the back of his car, breaking a tail light.
¢ A 32-year-old Tonganoxie man was arrested soon after 9:15 p.m. March 25, for aggravated arson, arson and battery after setting his mother's car and home on fire in the 33000 block of 199th Street. At the scene officers spoke with the 56-year-old female homeowner. The woman said the suspect had attempted to star a fire inside the house and had then had set the car on fire. Officers arrested the man three miles from the scene as he attempted to leave the area. Also at the scene were the fire fighters from Kickapoo Township, Easton and Fort Leavenworth.
¢ An 82-year-old Tonganoxie woman was not injured after hitting a horse that had run across the road at 8:40 p.m. March 26, on 246th Street just north of Honey Creek Road. Trula Smith was heading south on 246th when the accident occurred. The collision resulted in a cracked windshield and scratched paint. Smith was uninjured and the horse ran off.
