President Beth Scharinger called the bi-monthly Leavenworth County 4-H Council meeting to order.

No minutes were read. There was one communication. The treasurer’s report also was read. There wasn’t a reporter’s report.

Committee reports: 4-H days committee talked about what would give the members incentive to come to 4-H days. They will take the ideas back to their clubs and bring their response to the next county council meeting.

In fair book recommendations, they approved of the change in the dog rule book but didn’t approve of the change in the sheep book. Budget and fundraiser committee gave a report of the budget and the fundraisers.

The 4-H Camps committee set camp kick-off day for May 28, 2009. Member and Leader Support Committee reported that officer training would be Oct. 27, 2009, or Nov. 3, 2009. Achievement Night committee discussed past Achievement Nights and how well they went. 4-H Promotion committee discussed camps for older 4-H’ers.

Recognition committee approved Jacob Reynolds for the National 4-H Congress. Spring Fare committee presented three dates for the Spring Fare: June 13, 20, and 27, 2009. They are all at the Administration Building at the fairgrounds.

There wasn’t any unfinished business from the last meeting. New business: 2009 4-H Events Council Handbooks. It was moved and seconded to give Jacob Reynolds the National 4-H Congress Award. It was also decided to move $5,000 to a CD.

Announcements: The shooting sports meeting is Dec. 9 at the Lansing 4-H Building. June 2-5, 2009 are Discovery Days. County Camp is June 12-15, 2009. The meeting was adjourned.

The Dec. 4 meeting of the Reno Bobwhites was called to order by our leader Hillary Saathoff. Roll call was answered by the question, “Where will you be going for Christmas?”

The flag salutes were led by Austin Wiley and Rebekah Miller. The song was led by Nikki Gee and the song was jingle bells. The reading of the minutes was done by Allie Packard and were approved as read.

Jacob Reynolds received an award for his outstanding work for others. There will be a goal setting meeting on Jan. 22. On Dec. 18 there is a rocket meeting. County Club Days will be on Feb. 21 and the theme this year for the choir is Alexander’s rag time band. The choir group will sing at the Lansing High School at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 21. Think about what you may do for County Club Days.

The horse project will be at the Miles household every third Wednesday of every month.

Those who have birthdays this month are as follows, Garret French, Austin Wiley, Rebekah Miller and Hannah Davidson. We have two new members in the Reno Bobwhites. Allie Packard did a project talk on foods. Shannon Morton did a project talk on weaving. The motion to adjourn the meeting was offered by Bonnie Monahan, and it was seconded by Shannon Morton.
