Chieftains sweep Chargers at home
It was a clean sweep of Santa Fe Trail in the Tonganoxie High School gymnasium Tuesday night.
The THS girls began the evening defeating Santa Fe Trail, 46-12.
The Chieftains improved to 13-2 on the season, while Santa Fe Trail dropped to 5-10.
Since Dec. 18, Tonganoxie has won nine games in a row.
The Chieftains essentially had the game won from the opening tip. THS jumped out to a 13-2 lead after the first quarter and had the game put away, 31-4, at halftime.
The running clock rule was put into effect in the fourth quarter since THS led by 30. THS coach Randy Kraft gave his junior varsity players a chance to see action for the entire fourth quarter.
THS senior guard/forward Liz Baska led all scores with nine.
The Chieftains will travel to Lansing to take on the Lions at 6 p.m. Friday.

Tonganoxie improved to 5-10 with the victory, while Santa Fe Trail dropped to 2-14.
Senior Gabe Belobrajdic led the Chieftains with 11 points, while junior Austin Smith came off the bench to score 10.
THS will travel to Lansing to take on LHS at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
