Chocolate Event headed to Leavenworth center
The Women's Community Y of Leavenworth is planning a fundraiser for its early-learning programs that's sure to appeal to chocolate-lovers.
The Chocolate Event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade, Leavenworth.
This tasting event will feature chocolate items from cakes to cookies, pies, soup, and chocolate-covered nuts, just to name a few.
In addition to sampling the many offerings, some recipes will be available for attendees to pick up and take home.
There will also be samples of chocolate bath salts and chocolate facial masques, as well as other unusual chocolate items.
Chocolate waffles will be made on the spot so they may be eaten while they are hot. Chocolate fountains with fruit, pretzels, cake cubes for dipping will highlight the chocolate-laden tables.
Anne Barfoot, formerly of AnnieCakes, will demonstrate the making of chocolate roses for decorating cakes or other confections. She will have information about upcoming cake decorating classes that she will be teaching through the Y.
There will be information about other classes including crazy quilts. There will be a donation drawing for three baskets that will be on display.
Tickets for the event, as well as for the baskets, are available at the women's Community Y office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Cost for advance tickets is $15 per person.
Tickets will be $20 at the door. For further information, contact the Y at (913) 682-6404.
