Pastor’s Corner

July 9, 2008

If someone asked today "how old are you?" you would answer in terms of years. For example, I am 47 years old. We tend to number our years. Yet Psalm 90:12 teaches us to number our days. That's because life is shorter than you think. Soon it will be over and a very true saying will come to pass: "Only one life, 'twil soon be past. Only what's done for Jesus will last."

When it comes down to the end of life, it doesn't matter what you've accumulated or what you've experienced. It matters not where you have traveled or how much knowledge you have gained. It only matters if you have repented of your sins and trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

There are many mixed messages today. How do you get to heaven? You must come to the realization that no matter how good your life is, it's not good enough to get to God. God is holy and just and perfect and righteous. None of us are holy and just and perfect and righteous. We are all sinners.

The Bible teaches us that our sin has separated us from God. But Jesus died on the cross and rose again. He was the sacrifice for your sin. God placed all the sin of the world on Jesus and judged it through His death on the cross. If you will trust Jesus, casting your entire life upon Jesus, give Jesus your life, He will forgive your sins. He will give you a new nature. You will start a personal relationship with God through Him and He will take you to heaven when you die.
