Tonganoxie, McLouth schools to start enrollment
The time to register for classes in the Tonganoxie and McLouth School Districts is near.
Registration for Tonganoxie High School students is Aug. 12 and 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and also 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 12 only; registration for middle school students is Aug. 12-14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and also 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug 12 only; Tonganoxie Elementary students can register Aug. 6-12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and until 8 p.m. on Aug. 7 only.
The following fee schedule will be implemented for the 2008-2009 school year: $60, textbook/technology fee; $150 driver education fee (summer); $15 per sport (grades 7 and 8) and $20 per sport (grades 9-12), activity fee; $15 (grades 7 and 8) and $20 (grades 9-12), cheerleading/drill team.
For students attending classes for the first time in the district, a birth certificate and a physical form showing the student has been immunized against various diseases must be presented when enrolling.
USD 464 provides lunchrooms and serves a Class A breakfast and hot lunch. School meal prices are: $1 per day for breakfast and $1.80 per day for lunch for grades K-4; $1 per day for breakfast and $2.05 per day for lunch for grades 5-8; and $1.05 per day for breakfast and $2.10 per day for lunch for grades for grades 9-12.
Breakfast is $1.55 per day and lunch is $3.10 per day for adults, and extra milk for all ages is $.50.
Family and senior citizen athletic passes will also be available at enrollment. The cost for the 2008-2009 school year is $50 for a family and provides that all members of the immediate family who are living at home are admitted without further charge to all home athletic events, excluding tournaments.
Senior citizens of the district may obtain a guest pass permitting them to attend all athletic events free of charge by calling the volunteer center at (913) 845-2646.
The first day of school for all grades except 10-12 is Aug. 18. Grades 10-12 begin Aug. 19.

Enrollment for all students grades K-12 in the McLouth School District will take place on Monday, Aug. 5 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the school cafeteria. Textbook fees will be due at enrollment. Fees are $40 per elementary student and $45 per middle/high school student. Athletic fees may also be paid at enrollment. They are $15 per sport. Student-parent handbooks, class schedules and locker assignments will be distributed. Transportation lists will be mailed approximately one week before school starts.
Lunch money may be deposited at enrollment or mailed or delivered to the school offices any time. All patrons are encouraged to deposit lunch money before the first day of school to ensure that funds are available for their student on Aug. 19.
Breakfast and lunch prices are as follows: $.90 per day for breakfast and $1.55 per day for lunch for grades K-5; and $.95 per day for breakfast and $1.70 per day for lunch for grades 6-12.
Family discount and senior citizen athletic passes will also be available at enrollment. The cost for a family pass for the 2008-2009 school year is $5; it will deduct $1 off the cost of admission for each family member to attend a home athletic event (except KSHSAA playoff events).
Senior citizen passes are offered to anyone over the age of 65 free of charge.
The first day of classes for the 2008-09 school year will be Aug. 19, 8:10 a.m. to 1:35 p.m.
