Thelma Farris was an afternoon visitor of her sister, Anabel Knapp, on June 6 and brought her a lovely angel food cake and gift for Anabel's birthday, which was June 5. It was a wonderful visit.
Wayne and Anabel Knapp went shopping June 5 in Leavenworth and ate supper at Pullman restaurant to celebrate Anabel's birthday. It was a good place to eat and was a lovely meal.
The United Methodist Church of McLouth had a special treat June 8. The Gloryland Quartet Southern Gospel Music performed during the worship hour. The quartet members were: Carl and Barbara Brooks, Chris Hansford and Kristiana Downing, all of Meriden. It was a very wonderful show performed for a half hour.
Sandy Adams, a neighbor, visited Wayne and Anabel Knapp on Wednesday, June 11 and brought with them some garden produce.
Our sympathy to Marie Gillaspie in the loss of her father, Glen Seifert. The funeral was June 10.
Amy Jo Schwinn of Manhattan was a weekend visitor at her parents Johnny and Jackie Schwinn's house.
Dave and Julie Zule entertained with a birthday party June 8 for their daughter Courtney, who turned five years old May 2. Attending were brother Derek and sister Lauren, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents.
Several of the Schwinn families of this area went to Mildale Farms, Edgerton, for the wedding of Jessica Allen and Charles Brunker at 5:30 p.m. June 7. It was a beautiful outdoor wedding.
On May 19, Jan Nelson attended the monthly luncheon and meeting of Leavenworth County Republican Women at the Riverfront Community Center. Guest speaker was Kris Kobach, chairman of the Kansas State Republican Party.
On May 21, Orie and Jan flew to Orlando, Fla., for the special occasion of their grandson Cody Sumerix's Seabreeze High School graduation at Daytona Beach. On Thursday, they attended baccalaureate services at St. James Episcopal Church in Ormond Beach. On Saturday, they attended SHS commencement, which was the school's 100th. Cody graduated Summa Cum Laude, 11th in his class of 435 graduates. Cody has received a Merit Scholarship for full tuition at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. On Sunday, Cody was honored by his parents, Camille and Wayde Sumerix and sister, Jennifer, at a garden party at their home in Ormond Beach. Numerous friends, relatives and faculty attended the party.
