On Mother’s Day, Pat and Jeanne Murry of Olathe had a brunch for the Murrys. Mike Murry of Beckley, W. Va., was visiting here. Others there were Tim Murry, Jean Murry, Tom and Cindy Murry. Mike also went to the 40th-year reunion of Tonganoxie High School graduates at the fairgrounds and the alumni banquet that evening.

On Thursday, May 15, Linda Aufdemberge of Basehor took Kathy Powers, Bid Sheppard and Dorothy Thomas to Bichelmeyer’s Steakhouse for a belated Mother’s Day dinner.

There was a get-together of the Barnett family at the home of Thamar Barnett on Mother’s Day honoring four events. Besides Mother’s Day it was a belated birthday party for Michelle Heskett as well as Kody’s senior graduation from Marmaton Valley High in Moran – Kody was unable to attend the party. The other event was the deployment of Tammy Mooberry to Kuwait, where she will work for AAFES. The actual place of employment is not known yet.

Those attending were Gail Fitzwater and Josh, David and Jane Turner, Jess Barnett, Tim Davis, Connie Barnett, Eric Barnett, Kathy Stimac, Kipp Barnett, Tammy Mooberry, Ronnie Mooberry, Dameta Tullis and Ricky, Rhiannon Roscoe, Madison Smith, Paul and Lynn Heskett, Michelle and Isaac, Shianne Carter, Gene and Glenda Heskett and Thamar Barnett.

Jarbalo United Methodist Women met Wednesday, May 14 at the church. Marilyn Oxley opened with prayer. Roll call was answered by members reporting 58 care calls. Thamar Barnett was program leader and read a couple of stories from a book written by women of faith. She also served refreshments to Bid Sheppard, Frances Jeannin, Faye Cleavinger, Gladys Steffen, Marilyn Oxley, Rosie Oelschlaeger and pastor Larry Grove.

Memorial services will be held at Fall Creek Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday.
