Our View: Get involved with upcoming meetings
Life certainly is going to become even more hectic in the coming weeks. Folks will be traveling here, there and everywhere for Thanksgiving. And in December, there will be Christmas parties and other yuletide activities galore.
Although calendars are going to be filling up in the coming weeks, we suggest you take time to attend other upcoming functions.
At 7 p.m. Thursday at Tonganoxie Public Library, the Optimist Club again will be meeting in hopes of signing up more charter members. There is a push to establish such a club in Tonganoxie. It’s hoped that the organization will reach its required 25 members to start a chapter here. As of last Thursday, there were three, so anyone interested should attend Thursday’s meeting.
And while you’re at it, remember other goodwill clubs, such as Lions Club, which has been working to start a chapter in Tonganoxie as well.
On Monday evening, just a few days before Thanksgiving, meetings will be held at the Tonganoxie High School Chieftain Room to discuss energy efficiency in the school district, as well as a meeting after that to discuss space issues as the district looks at another potential bond issue for USD 464. It’s not exactly cranberry sauce and turkey dressing, but it’s worth your time to be informed about the future of our school district — as well as worthy organizations trying to establish a presence in Tonganoxie.
