Leavenworth County Commission has announced its agenda for the week of Oct. 20-24.
Agenda
Monday, Oct. 20
• 9 a.m., Public comment / administrative business
• 10 a.m., Quarterly report – appraiser/GIS/counselor-at-large
• 11 a.m., Quarterly report – Solid Waste
• 11:30 a.m., Chuck Magaha, Emergency Management, and Larry Malbrough, Information Systems, will discuss cell phone and Blackberry phone management
• 1:30 p.m., Quarterly report – Health Department
• 2 p.m., Quarterly report – EMS
Thursday, Oct. 23
• 9 a.m., Public comment / administrative business
• 10 a.m., Consideration of cultural grant applications
All such other business that may come before the commission. All meetings are open to the public.

What’s the best way to spend a snow day?
Shovel your driveway and paths, check neighbors’ driveways and then grab all your closest little ones and find the biggest sledding hill. Snowmen also are a must. Snow days are a great time to catch up on missed shows and much-needed rest. I love snowdays, they haven’t changed one bit even as an adult, although I am sure not all working adults can say that, but I am happy I can. I was excited to see the snowmen and other snow sculptures throughout the Lawrence and Kansas City metro areas.
