A bite of reality: Bulldogs celebrating homecoming

By Shawn Linenberger - | Sep 17, 2008

McLouth High School will receive a dose of “reality” next week for its homecoming festivities.

The theme for this year’s homecoming week, which begins Monday, is “The Real Deal,” which relates to reality television shows.

Festivities begin Monday with the first dress-up day. That day’s theme will be “Extreme Make-over,” Tuesday is “Beauty and the Geek,” Wednesday, Sept. 24 is “Game Show Day,” and Thursday is “Trading Places/MADE” day. For that day, students are to dress up like someone else or trade places with someone who looks like them.

And Friday is Purple and Gold Day.

Other activities are: Tuesday’s American Idol, McLouth’s Got Talent, Best Dance Crew and Top Model. For Top Model, students must wear clothes from the era in which their parents were in school.

On Wednesday, Sept. 24, a Buff and Tuff volleyball game open to high school boys will be played at 7 p.m., while the Powder Puff football games for high school girls will be held at 8 p.m.

A bonfire will follow at 8:45 p.m.

Friday’s lineup begins with the homecoming parade, which starts at 2 p.m. The theme this year is “Wipe Out The Wildcats,” as McLouth will take on Wathena in its homecoming football game.

That’s followed with a tug-of-war, scavenger hunt, candidate games and speeches.

The McLouth-Wathena football game will start at 7 p.m. at Stan Braksick Sports Complex, with the homecoming crowning to be held during halftime.

King candidates are Jarrod Bechard, Derrick Crouse and Skyler Terry. Queen candidates are Kasey Campbell, Kendall Patterson and Brook Thompson.

Homecoming week will conclude with a dance following the game.
