Jarbalo Jottings

Funeral services were held for Connie Barnett at Jarbalo United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Sept. 11. Burial was in Fall Creek Cemetery.

Bid Sheppard attended a birthday party for Emma and Charlie Aufdemberge at the home of their parents, Mark and Katie Aufdemberge on Saturday. Both of their birthdays are in September. Emma is 4 years old and Charlie is 1.

Peggy and Perry Pistora of Salina visited Bid Sheppard on Sept. 6.

Jarbalo United Methodist Women met Sept. 10 at the church. Marilyn Oxley opened the meeting. Seven members answered roll calls and reported 54 care calls.

Officers for 2009 are: president, Marilyn Oxley; vice president, Thamar Barnett; secretary, Rosie Oelschlaeger; and treasurer, Frances Jeannin. The nominating committee will be Gladys Steffen, Faye Cleavinger and Peachez Joles. The upcoming smorgasbord was discussed. It will be held Friday, Oct. 10. Pastor Larry Grove gave the program, which was based on an article about Richard Warren in Time magazine.

Frances Jeannin served refreshments to Marilyn Oxley, Gladys Steffen, Bid Sheppard, Faye Cleavinger, Pastor Larry Grove and Thamar Barnett. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Oct. 8.

The Barnett family wishes to thank everyone for their acts of kindness. Cards, calls, food, flowers, memorials and lunch were all appreciated very much.

There will be a rummage and bake sale at Jarbalo United Methodist Church from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

The annual smorgasbord will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10.
