Retail retention meeting set for today at Bichelmeyer’s
The City of Tonganoxie will be hosting its second community roundtable meeting in its Retail Recruitment and Retention strategic planning project at 6 p.m. today at the Bichelmeyer's Steakhouse meeting room.
This meeting is part of the city's community visioning process and will focus on downtown development topics. It will be led by Bucher Willis Ratliff, Corp. consultants who will present topics for discussion and consensus on strategic planning items for possible future City implementation.
Discussion topics planned for the session include the following:
Downtown district beautification and streetscape.
Business and marketing opportunities.
Downtown on-street and off-street parking.
Community directional signage and wayfinding.
Cleanup of the 4th Street & US 24/40 intersection as a gateway to downtown.
Possible public gathering space and greenspace.
Financing of improvements such as façade upgrades.
Implementation efforts and delegation of tasks and responsibilities.
Additionally, meeting participants will see the results of the recent community survey that was distributed in August. With more than 400 surveys returned, the results will provide insights into community attitudes regarding the city's retail environment.
The meeting is open to the public with encouragement from downtown and highway corridor business owners to attend as the city feels their comments will provide added value to the discussions.
Attendees should call Tonganoxie city hall at (913) 845-2620 as soon as possible to indicate their attendance so that adequate seating and refreshments can be provided.
