MHS girls fall to defending champs
On Friday night, the McLouth High girls basketball team traveled to St. Marys to play the defending Class 2A state champions and fell, 40-25.
The Bulldogs (1-1) struggled from the floor, shooting 9-for-35 — and 0-for-5 from behind the three-point arc.
However, coach Bob Good was satisfied with McLouth’s defensive effort.
“They only made one three and got 11 of their points at the free-throw line, many of them coming when we had to foul late,” Good noted.
Unfortunately, St. Marys’ defense was even better. Good said MHS didn’t execute its offensive sets.
The coach was pleased with the rebounding efforts of Kylie Shufflebarger (10 boards) and Missy Rome (nine).
McLouth plays at Oskaloosa in the second round of the Delaware Valley League tournament on Monday.
