FFA events hit high school

By Staff Reports - | Feb 19, 2009

The annual Businessmen’s Breakfast will kick off Future Farmers of America Week at Tonganoxie High School.

Breakfast will be served from 6:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the high school cafeteria.

Beginning Monday, each day of FFA Week will coincide with a theme. Monday is Agriculture Day, Tuesday is Cowboy Day, Wednesday, Feb. 25 is Hat Day, Thursday, Feb. 26 is Blue and Gold Day and Friday, Feb. 27 is Drive Your Tractor or Farm Truck to School Day.

For Agriculture Day, students will wear agriculture shirts. They’ll dress up as cowboys and cowgirls on Cowboy Day, and on Blue and Gold Day, FFA students will wear FFA shirts, while other THS students will wear blue and gold, which are the FFA’s colors.

Also on Thursday, there will be a movie night at the high school. “Wall-E” will be shown that evening at the Chieftain Room in Tonganoxie High School’s east campus.

And, each day during the lunch period, students will compete in various events — a fence run, tug-o-war, scavenger hunt, hay bale toss and water bucket race are planned.
