Food volunteer class to start February
The Extension Master Food Volunteer Program provides people with interests in food, cooking and nutrition the opportunity to take their knowledge and skills to a higher level and also help their community.
Volunteers receive 40 hours of training in basic nutrition, food science, food preparation and preservation, and food safety. In return, they provide 40 hours of community service by sharing their love of food and cooking with the public.
This year’s program will be conducted in cooperation with the Douglas County and Shawnee County Extension Offices. The training will begin Feb. 12 and be held each Thursday through April 9. Training will be held at the Douglas County Extension Office in Lawrence.
