McLouth boys finally victorious

The McLouth High boys basketball team is winless no more.

The Bulldogs opened the McLouth Tournament on Tuesday night with their first win of the season, a 56-48 victory against Bishop Seabury.

MHS (1-8) had four players score in double figures, led by senior forward Derrick Crouse’s 15. Junior point guard Cole Batman had 13, freshman Gavin Swearngin scored 11 and Jarrod Bechard added 10.

McLouth will play host to Atchison County Community, which defeated Valley Falls, 47-33, on Friday in the second round of the tournament at 7:45 p.m.

In other McLouth tourney action Tuesday, Oskaloosa edged Maranatha, 50-48, and Jefferson County North got past Cair Paravel Latin in overtime, 56-50.
