Bulldogs fall short of title game

The McLouth High boys lost, 59-45, to Atchison County in the semifinals of their McLouth Basketball Tournament Friday night.

Junior point guard Cole Batman scored 16 points and senior forward Derrick Crouse added 12 for the Bulldogs (1-9) in a losing cause.

Jarrod Bechard scored six, Gavin Swearngin had five, Alen Kramer scored four and Vinny Gonzalez had two.

The Bulldogs will face Jefferson County North in the third-place game on Saturday night at 5:30 p.m.

JCNHS lost, 36-35, to Oskaloosa in the other semifinal Friday. Oskaloosa will take on Atchison County in the title game at 7 p.m.

In the consolation bracket, Valley Falls knocked off Bishop Seabury, 58-40, and Cair Paravel Latin defeated Maranatha, 39-29.

On Saturday, Valley Falls will face Cair Paravel for fifth place while Maranatha and Seabury will square off for seventh.
