Man drowned trying to rescue fiancee’s 3-year-old boy

A man who drowned Monday evening was trying to save a child at Perry Lake, Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig said Tuesday.

Tonganoxie has increased its population by 3.7 percent, according to numbers released this morning by the U.S. Census Bureau. Tonganoxie added 154 people from July 2007 to July 2008, according to Census Bureau estimates.
