Leavenworth County in flash flood, severe thunderstorm watches; Jefferson and Douglas counties under tornado watch

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 3 a.m. Tuesday for Leavenworth County and a flash flood watch until noon Tuesday for the county.

Strong, isolated thunderstorms may slow travelers near the end of the evening commute. Those traveling along I-70 near the East Lawrence Interchange will see a delay due to construction, as will commuters on K-7 near Shawnee Mission Parkway. Traffic there is reduced to one lane in both directions.
Thornburgh bows out of governor’s race
