AG warns consumers about bogus phone charges

By Staff Reports - | Nov 16, 2009

Kansas Attorney General Steve Six is alerting consumers about possible unauthorized charges that may appear on their monthly telephone bills.

These charges are often listed as “enhanced services” and are billed on behalf of another entity that specializes in voicemail and/or e-mail services. The Attorney General’s Office has received more than 100 complaints in the past 12 months and is conducting an investigation.

Kansans who have received a similar charge are asked to contact the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division at 1(800) 432-2310 where representatives will offer instructions on how to file an investigative request with the office.
