KVL football report: Week Six

By Staff | Oct 14, 2009

Turner’s football season is far from over. In fact, it’s just beginning district play like everyone else.

The Golden Bears’ Kaw Valley League season is finished, however, and now they must sit back and eye the standings from afar and root for somebody to upend Tonganoxie. Turner concluded its KVL slate with a 4-1 league record, putting it in a three-way tie for second with Basehor-Linwood and Bishop Ward. Both of those teams are in the same district with KVL unbeaten Tonganoxie. A THS loss would bump Turner into a tie for first.

Tonganoxie begins its march through district play — and possibly to a KVL championship — on Friday when it travels to Basehor, another league championship hopeful. The other half of the district pits Ward against a very tough Piper squad.

Meanwhile, Mill Valley and Lansing each have one league game remaining — against each other in the regular-season and district finale in three weeks.
